1993 January 7 Senator Carol Moseley Braun is one of two women elected to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Braun claimed she was inspired to run partly as a result of angry feelings over the Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas hearings in 1991. The all-male Judiciary Committee had been admonished by the public for its role in the handling of the hearings.
