1955 December 1 ROSA PARKS: In Montgomery, Alabama, Mrs. Rosa Parks takes a seat in the front of a Cleveland Avenue bus, refuses to surrender it to a white man, and is arrested. She quickly become a symbol for all the injustices blacks are forced to live with on a daily basis.
