1943 January 14-26 Roosevelt and Churchill meet for the Conference at Casablanca, on the Moroccan coast. Stalin, claiming that he had been promised a European second front by the spring of 1942, refuses to attend. General de Gaulle is invited to meet with and hopefully accept the authority of General Giraud in North Africa. News of the Conference will be kept secret until an official press conference on January 24.
