1928 June 18 Amelia Earhart, a passenger on the Fokker Friendship, lands in Wales, becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. The flight takes approximately 21 hours and launches her career as an aviator. Shortly afterward, she publishes 20 Hrs. 40 Min., her account of the flight.
