When visiting Berlin, it can sometimes feel a little bit daunting as to where you should go and what you should see first. Berlin is a city that is steeped in culture and history and there is a lot to see and do. If you are to get around it all on your visit, you need to plan your days out in advance so that you can make the best of your time here.

Berlin's vibrant cultural scene has a lot to offer. Whatever it is that you are interested in, Berlin is sure to have something that suits your tastes. You can visit exhibitions, museums, the theater, historic buildings, the entertainment district, and much, much more. Berlin is literally packed full of things to do. One visit to Berlin will prove why people say that Berlin is the city that never stands still.

Public transportation consists of the S-Bahn - the city's suburban rail system - which operates on a large network of lines mostly over ground. Its symbol is a green S. The U-Bahn or underground - symbol: a white U on a blue background - runs on its own lines mostly underground. All over the city, highly efficient and well designed buses, both single and double decker, are at your disposal. Riding on the top deck can be a spectacular and cost-effective way to see the city.

As soon as you arrive you should buy a Berlin day ticket. At just 5.60 euros ($6.75 or £3.70) per person it gives you unlimited access to all public transport until 3am the next morning. You can get it from machines on train platforms and on board trams. Other tourist tickets are also available from the machines which have instructions in English. Don't forget to stamp it with the date and time in one of the small red machines on the platform bus or tram. With your day ticket, the whole of Berlin is at your fingertips, but have your ticket ready for random inspections!
