Total sales for the fair trade industry in North America in 2007 were $475 million, an increase of 31 % from 2006. Sales in the Pacific Rim for the period were $157.6 million, a growth rate of 21%. Combining the two regions, total sales of the fair trade industry increased 33% during 2007, from $437 million to $648 million.

What is Fair Trade International?
The Fair Trade movement is generally described as a global network of producers, traders, marketers, advocates and consumers focused on building equitable trading relationships between consumers and the world’s most economically disadvantaged artisans and farmers. Fair Trade International's goal is to expand that definition to include many goods, products and services that traditionally have been ignored by the established fair trade movement.
